Sex Dreams Explained – Patch’s Dream
So as not to make anyone else uncomfortable, Patch bravely stepped up to volunteer his own sex dream to analyze. Up front, he offered the caveat that no actual sexual intercourse took place in this dream. In fact, Patch let us know that he only has a sexually themed dream once every 3-4 weeks.
Before diving into the story of his dream, Patch got Sara’s green light to tell it, since she wasn’t the dream partner. He also reminded us that situations in dreams are almost always metaphorical. The act of sex often represents another kind of union or partnership. Your dream may be telling you that you should link up with your dream partner in a business deal, for example. On a deeper level, your subconscious could be suggesting that you need to incorporate some of their characteristics into your life.
In Patch’s dream, he is courting the mystery partner (of course he wouldn’t mention her on air, come on!), whom he doesn’t know in real life. From his outside perspective on social media, he doesn’t actually think she would make a great partner, due to her mental state. Online, she overshares about her emotional state constantly. Patch courted her in the dream with the goal of having intercourse. Subconsciously, of course, he did not desire to cheat on Sara. Patch theorized that his inner self, through the metaphor of desiring sexual activity with her, wanted to tell him he needed to open up more emotionally. Sara stated that Patch was a very emotional person, yet he did not always know how to identify and express his feelings. Thus, he sometimes suppresses them.
Sex Dreams Meanings – Your Mileage May Vary
Of course, this is just one example of a sex dream explanation. Not everyone has the same views on sex, so Sara requested that Patch address that.
First, he assured everyone that we shouldn’t feel guilty about the sexual acts that play out in our dreams. Take into account your own views on sex, and realize that your higher self is using them metaphorically to communicate a truth to you. Ask yourself what sex really means to you. Trust? Vulnerability? Perhaps a bad experience gave you a negative feeling about it.
Whatever emotion is involved, you should also focus on the partner in the dream. If they were a Greek god or goddess, which god or goddess would they be? Restated, what trait do they most represent to you? When you determine those two factors, you are on your way to understanding your own sex dreams.
Sara’s Sex Dream Interpreted
As a reminder that not all sex dreams are positive experiences, Sara offers one of her own. Sara is a survivor of past sexual trauma in her youth.
In her dream, Sara was in a situation involving sex trafficking and abuse. As in Patch’s dream, no actual sexual acts took place. While the rest of the details were fuzzy, Sara and Patch took a moment to remind listeners not to feel guilty about the emotions and our own actions in our dreams. We all have differing views, due to gender, upbringing, and situations we have encountered, so said emotions and actions should be taken at face value.
