Dream Lovers Episode 5 – “Two Part Dream”

After Patch tells the story about the first time they met (is Sara the long lost twin sister of Britney Spears??), Sara draws this week’s card. She pulls from her brand new deck, The Shaman’s Dream Oracle. The Covenant card, or Sacred Contract card, represents the commitment to dive deeper into our dreams’ meanings, for the greater good. Could our listener’s two part dream about stress be leading to a renewal of an old covenant, or a new commitment?

Dream About Stress while Studying for College ExamListener’s Two Part Dream About Stress

The first dream involved a series of events, in which the listener had to serve members of her family, to the point of exhaustion. Next, the listener dreamed that she was back in school, studying at a mix of Hogwart’s and medical school. She was working hard to prepare for a test, while her friends were not stressing at all. No matter how hard she worked, she couldn’t seem to grasp the material. Despite being a single woman living alone in real life, she had a live in boyfriend in this dream. He tried to encourage her studies by getting her to take a break. When she awakened from the dream, the listener felt energized and ready to tackle her day’s tasks.

Dream About Stress Analysis

Patch believed strongly that these two dreams were related to each other. The first dream could describe a situation where the listener is stretching herself too thin. Sara believes this dream about stress is telling the dreamer that she needs to focus on herself first, then serve others out of the overflow of energy remaining. When people over serve others to their own detriment, it is a trauma response. They worry that others will not love them if they don’t give every ounce of energy they have away in service. The listener must examine her motives. She should evaluate how she is distributing her energy, and make sure she becomes healthy in all aspects of her life before volunteering to serve others again.

When Patch began analyzing the second dream, he pointed out that he knew the dreamer personally. She works in holistic medicine, which she describes as a mix of traditional healing and magic. The dream reflects her continuing studies in her field becoming more important than socializing. Sara believes that the boyfriend in her dream represents her masculine traits, which are pushing her toward wholeness. Despite the masculine tendency to find worth in study and work, the boyfriend figure encourages her to embrace her feminine energy.

Patch and Sara disagree on the messages of each dream. Sara believes the first and second dreams both have the same message, that the dreamer needs to rest, recharge, and reexamine her priorities. Patch, however, feels the waking aftermath of the second dream indicates that the dreamer is refreshed and encouraged to pursue her work again. Because the dreamer is not present with the hosts, this  isn’t a true dream therapy session. As such, both dreams about stress are subject to Patch and Sara’s individual biases.
